What's an interesting issue we'll discuss?

We have discussions about just about every subject under the sun. Topics might vary from the serious (what do you think about life after death?)) to the frivolous (who's your favourite Doctor in Doctor Who; which Star Trek incarnation is your favourite?)

Who should come? Are newcomers welcome?

Newcomers are definitely welcome. Anyone with Asperger's/autism is welcome. People who have friends or family members with Asperger's are welcome, as are people who want to know more about it.

Why should people come?

To meet other Aspies and find out that you're not the only one in the universe. To learn how other people live with Asperger's. To meet interesting new people. To have interesting conversations. To help people who are having trouble coping with their own Asperger's or someone else's.

Do attendees need to participate or can they just listen?

You can just listen if you want to.

How will members find you when they get there?

Ask for the reservation for rainbow, or look for a blonde woman wearing purple. I'll try to remember to put a Meetup sign on the table as well.

I loved the new location! Much nicer having a room to ourselves and being able to hear everybody without the noise of other customers talking and background music playing. And the prices...Wow!!! Much more affordable for people on a limited income, where as White Spot only had appetizers in that range. I hope we make this our new location from now on! Some people don't like being around large crowds, and White Spot will be getting even busier when the Summer Events start happening!

Of all things: I happened to get into talking to a lady in the sauna at our local community pool, and told her about having AS, and she was terribly excited. It turns out her son is AS too. :) I've mentioned this group and the meetup on Thursday, and she is interested. As for me, I'm not sure, since I will have to be up very early on Friday morning.

    •  I think the Pantry is much better than the White Spot. Lots of parking for people who drive there. Much easier to hear everybody. And the waiter serves everybody by their name!

I liked the layout better. If some people need rides maybe post on the group.
    •  It was nice to see some new people, as well as some people who hadn't attended in awhile.
    •  While I didn't get to chat with everyone, I probably talked with at least 60% of the group at one point or another. The setting was much friendlier than previous locations, with many more people able to talk face to face, or side by side if they preferred that. The extra bonus was that we were able to be in our own room, and could make as much noise as we wanted, which didn't really happen, as we all liked the fact that this was a much quieter time than before. There was not that nearly overwhelming background noise we have had in the past. All in all, very worthwhile making the trip down, and it was very nice meeting new aspies.
