FAQ About this Group

How many people are in the group?

The average attendance at each meeting is about 15 



What ages and gender are they?



13-21 with Male and Female attendees



Is their Asperger's mild or severe?

It varies, I don't look at group members that way. Everyone comes with their own strengths and challenges.



What do you do at the meetings?


It's an open forum, there's no set agenda for each meeting. As a support group it's designed to address the challenges that are foremost on the minds of those in attendance.


Do teens go alone or with a family member?


The group is for the teens only.



Are there rules for the group meetings?



Yes.



1) Though group members aren't required to share during meetings participants must be verbal as this is necessary for being able to benefit from the group discussion.



2) Members must be able to sit still and NOT wander around the room in order to help maintain a sense of structure in the environment. 



3) One person talks at a time in order to show respect to the person speaking and allow the group member the right to be heard.



4) Everyone is treated with respect at all times. No teasing, and no judging.



5) What is said in the group stays in the group. We respect everyone's right to privacy at all times.



6) Make your comments concise and relevant (stay on topic)/ Don't monopolize the conversation.
