Hi, my name is Helen and I have a 12 year old son with high functioning PDD-NOS (Autism). My son has traveled a long road to where he is today. He is in regular classes in school with modifications to his work and 15-20 min. of one on one help in each class. He is about to go into Jr. High which is very scary for me. He does not have the best judgement when he is made angry, he can lose control very easily. He becomes quite violent at times. The teachers at the elementary school he has been attending handled him very well and we had very few problems. We have been a situation where the teachers did not know what they were doing and it was a nightmare, which is why I am so nervous about him going to a new school. We have him on several medications for the OCD, ADHD, ANGER and FOCUS. The more he grows the less these are doing their jobs. If any of you can relate and have any advice for us, please answer this. We see a psychologist regularly which helps but there is alway a new situation which arises. We live in Katy, Texas, just west of Houston and are very excited about the things Texas Children's Hospital has going on out here. They are building a new Neuro Facility out here in Katy. Go to WWW.healsickchildren.org to see more on what they are planning out here for us. We are thrilled, spread the word. I know with the hassell of driving down to the Medical Center this great news!!
