Stephen Shore nailed it on the head when he compared the Aspie & NT interaction as "two different 'operating systems' of spectrum and non-spectrum running in one relationship"...and how important it is to learn to interface between the two.

This is a group for young adults that have high functioning Autism or a disability like it that want to meet new people and make friends. Maybe once a week at a park for basketball, coffee shop, out for the movies, or anything relatively easy and cheap thing. I want to meet people who are close in age that I can relate to and we can support each other.

I am starting this group to meet other mom's of special high functioning autistic kids. My son Aiden is 5 and was diagnosed with Autism about a year ago. Anyone can join that has children with autism.

VBL RESPITE HOUSE AND ACTIVITY CENTER is a non profit organization founded by a father who's son has autism. Our organization ultimate goal is to provide residential housing and respite services to families who children and adults are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. We seek support and a mutual understanding from people who family and friends are affected by this disorder. We would like to create a world for autistic individuals.
