Need a place to talk and learn more about life with an adult with Asperger Syndrome? Not a therapy group, but a place to learn from others and to share your story about the often frustrating and isolating life of loving an adult with Asperger Syndrome. Kathy Marshack, Ph.D. and author of "Going Over the Edge?" (2009) is your organizer, but by no means the leader of this group. This meetup is a forum for all of us to learn more, through books, films and guest speakers. Starting with "Going over t …
Aspergers, Dyspraxia, Sensory Intergation, and additonal related conditions or syndroms. You are not alone. Life has not been easy for you. Join us and Meet up with other adults (18+) who have similar problems. You don't have to drive to Portland. But people from Portland and surrounding areas are welcome to join. If you join, you don't even have to use your last name. You don't have to post anything about yourself if you don't want to. But we would still like you to join our group
I decided to start this group so my daughter and other kids and teens on the spectrum would have a friendly environment to create friendships through activities and games. This group is open to kids and teens on the spectrum, including High Functioning Autism, Aspergers, PDDNOS, NVLD and ADHD ages 5 to 18. Siblings are welcome to participate and a parent is required to attend. Parents are necessary to help our kids as needed to have a fun time and encourage them. On a personal note, my daughter …
I have started this group for adults and young adults on the Autistic spectrum who are interested in video games and tabletop games (D&D, Magic, Catan, etc.) to get together. There are other groups in the metro area for people on the spectrum to socialize, but this group will focus on gaming. If you have autism, asperger's or any other related condition, and you are looking to meet other gamers on the spectrum, then this group is for you.
Please note that ASAN-PDX is a group that is ONLY for persons on the autistic spectrum who are 18+ and are either medically or self-diagnosed. Thank you for your understanding. (Non-autistic people are more than welcome to join us for our outside social advocacy events, and our yearly picnics, so please inquire for further information.) ASAN-PDX is working to promote civil rights, services, supports, education, public understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity. We oppose the causation/cur …

This group is for families with teenagers whom are impacted by Developmental Disabilities including but not limited to Autism. There is a need for a place for families to network together on the Westside (Portland, Beaverton, Aloha, Tigard, Tualitin, Hillsboro, and other surrounding areas). Let's share tips--especially in the areas of hard to find activities and before/after school care for those of us who have kids whom cannot be left alone, yet cannot afford to pay $10-$20 an hour for care! Le …
This group was created for special needs children aged 6 and under, developmentally delayed and their parents and siblings, to play together and socialize. The idea is that so many of our children need extra work and attention. Meeting other parents of special needs children can be great because they understand each other, and can help each other in many ways. I imagine we all have a lot in common. Children with special needs are especially in need of social skills. Why not develop them together …
