Call me Danny. I'm 28, and I have Asperger's. In my generation, there was limited knowledge of Asperger’s when I was growing up. This meetup group is a continuation of the Aspie Friends group that has been around since 2007. Located in Greenville, SC, Aspie Friends is a non-profit organization that provides support to children and families dealing with high-functioning autism. High-functioning autism is only a segment of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) which includes Asperger’s Syndrome. The term 'Aspie' is an affectionate name given to those who are diagnosed with Asperger's.
Come all Aspies and kin and let's share our Aspierations! We meet together and discuss growing up, being, or raising an Aspie, as well as the many things Aspies like to do or talk about - obscure or common languages, mathematics, metalworking, steam engines, taxonomy, etc.
We are the parents of a special needs child with Cerebal Palsy. The group will focus on networking and sharing resources for the special needs community as well as socializing for the parents. Open to all parents, guardians or relatives of special needs children or adults.
